The event will bring together exhibitors from countries like Canada, Italy and Germany, which will present the novelties of the technical textiles and nonwovens industry
Messe Frankfurt Feiras, a subsidiary of the German Messe Frankfurt GmbH, one of the world’s largest trade fairs organizers, is holding, from November 22nd to 24th, the Techtextil South America 2005, at ITM Expo, in São Paulo. It is the most important and traditional event of the technical textile and nonwovens sector in Latin America and it will present a special pavilion, with 99 foreign companies, of which 18 will be representing Canada. Foreign exhibitors will be in a reserved area and they will come from the United States, Germany, Italy, Korea, South Korea, Russia, Latvia, Austria, Hong Kong, China, Netherlands, and Turkey.
Techtextil South America will rely on the participation of the Canadian Commercial Textile Mission, bringing together two administration levels (local and federal), four associations and 12 companies, aiming at establishing partnerships in Brazil. According to the VP Commercial Development Services of the Canadian Group, Richard Cormier, participating in the event is an important opportunity for the country’s industry. “We are participating for the fourth time in the exhibition worldwide and we want to show that we are one of the main world players on this market,“ stated Cormier.
Canadian companies expect to narrow their relationship with Brazil through manufacturers and buyers of technical textiles. “Some of our participants have already negotiated with Brazil, but some have never been in touch. Brazil is one the most important markets in South America for the consumption of textile material and it is also a potential buyer of Canadian products,“ said Cormier.
According to the director of the German company Dr Karl Wetekam & Co KG, Tom Beck, the fair is an opportunity to learn what South America can offer in the technical textiles segment. “We want to better understand this area and develop business, since this is a new market for us,” explained the director.
In addition to the Canadian pavilion, Techtextil will receive companies from the United States, Latvia, and China who are participating for the first time in the fair and seek to learn about the Brazilian market. “Foreign exhibitors recognize Brazil as a channel to expand their business. Besides, the country relies on the best Latin American infrastructure, and it is considered an entry channel for foreign companies into the continent,” explained the general director of Messe Frankfurt Feiras, Ligia Amorim.
According to the executive, the event strengthens the Brazilian position in the converters market. “We are very excited with this edition of Techtextil South America. In 2003, we registered a 73% level of total satisfaction from the visitors, of whom 89% declared they would be back in 2005. In addition, Brazil has a sales volume of U$ 1 billion in the textile sector, including the line of technical textiles. Thus, the executives attending the event will be able to detect opportunities and strengthen their business. The discovery of new applications for Latin America is also an important factor of this event,” concluded the executive.
Over 5 thousand people from several parts of the world are expected to visit the event’s 4th edition, which relies on the presence of important companies such as Invista, Cobafi (Bahian Fiber Company)/Dusa, Diatec, Ernetex, Alpargatas, Nordson, National Starch & Chemical, Neumag and Gruppo Moissi & Ghisolfi, in addition to the foreign companies Fil Man Made (Italy) and Hyosung (Korea), PGI (France) and Lenzing (Austria), among others.
